11.4.10 - Nullsleep, George & Jonathan and Zen Albatross @ Babycastles x Attract Mode Indie Arcade

If you’ve payed even a lick of attention to my recent posts, you’ve probably heard about the brand-new Babycastles indie games arcade which opened up shop early last month in the heart of midtown Manhattan. But let’s recap anyway:

This beautifully decorated pop-up art space located a block from Grand Central station has quickly taken its rightful place as the hub of indie games culture in New York City. More than half a dozen gorgeous, handmade arcade cabinets crafted from wood, papier-mâché and various other materials give life to a rotating cast of independently developed games from developers around the world, switched out every two weeks from now until the end of December.

This week, Babycastles is teaming up Adam Robezzoli of videogame culture shop Attract Mode and Matt Hawkins of gaming zine Fort90 to bring a swarm of new games from star indie developers like Anna Anthropy (Mighty Jill Off), Cactus (Norrland) and Derek Yu (Spelunky). They’ll be accompanied by art from Cory Schmitz (EXP.) and Mare Odomo (Letters To An Absent Father), with live music by Nullsleep, George & Jonathan and myself.

If you live in or around NYC, I can’t stress enough that this joint is an absolute must-visit. Check out Babycastles for more info on upcoming events at the gallery from now through December.
