8static 12.11.10 - Animal Style, Zen Albatross, Natty, Cathode Rays & VBLANK
Let me be frank about this: I’m not the kind of guy who enjoys travelling frequently. I live in New York City and suffice it to say, there’s a lot to do here. So the fact that I’ve been hitching a megabus down to Philadelphia almost every month for the past half-year should say something about how enjoyable it’s been to routinely visit 8static, Philly’s up-and-coming chip music concert series.
Every time I show up for this event, the crowd seems to have expanded significantly from the last time I attended. My pal Carlson, whom I met last year at MAGFest has even taken up permanent residence there, selling all kinds of drool-worthy rare games, consoles and retro gaming miscellany. There’s also been frequent after parties hosted at Jonathan Baken (of George & Jonathan)’s home basement venue, Sprinkle Kingdom, which has played host to some of the most raucous and fun house shows I’ve ever attended.
8static has truly become a spectacle of the chip music community and anyone who lives even remotely close to Philadelphia and hasn’t been should seriously consider making the trip in the near future.
Needless to say, it’s a huge honor to be playing there tomorrow. Hope you can make it. Peep details below:
