Aside from a few inevitable technical difficulties, the first night of Blip Festival 2009 went off without a hitch. Each act brought consistently excellent performances to the stage, with a decent helping of surprises sprinked throughout.

Some highlights:

  • minusbaby and enso put on an exhilarating audiovisual performance which required the audience to don 3D glasses, and at some points, shoot into outer space.
  • Failotron’s moody and powerful post-rock ballads created an titanic wall of sound that shook the Bell House and everyone in it.
  • Je Deviens DJ En Trois Jours arrived from France to deliver hard-hitting, brain-assaulting house loops, thereby catalyzing the subsequent Nullsleep stage dive.
  • Eat Rabbit dragged us down the rabbit hole kicking and screaming into a schizophrenic world of audible madness.
  • Gaijin Games and Robotube made some progress on their 24-hour collaborative game challenge. It looks like their making some sort of fusion of Blocktonix and the Bit.Trip games. Check them out!

Check back for more as the festival progresses, and get to the Bell House at 8 PM sharp tonight for performances from Disasterpeace, little-scale, Fighter X, Starscream and much more.
