New Year’s + MAGFest = Hot Times
Seeing as you are reading my blog, you may be asking, “Zen, what will you be doing for New Years?” Well since you audibly wondered so nicely, I will tell you:
I’ll be at MAGFest, of course!

There’s only a few days left until this year’s Music And Games Festival and already my blood has begun to boil with frothing anticipation. In short, MAGFest is a 4-day celebration of video games and video game music, bringing together fans and musicians from every corner of the gaming community. Every year, the Fest is attendened by scores of online communities like OverClocked Remix, VGMix, The Shizz, ScrewAttack and of course, my extended robot family from Destructoid.
This year, the festivities were cleverly set up to take place *on* New Years, effectively saving hordes of gamers from the fate of spending their holiday drowning themselves in champagne whilst entertaining their boring and/or embarrassing relatives. On January 1st, the Hilton Marks Center in Alexandria, VA will transform into the ultimate gamer’s paradise for four consecutive days. Here’s some of the awesome things I’ll be seeing and doing during that time:
CONCERTS
Tons of bands like Arm Cannon, Power Glove, Metroid Metal and Smash Bros will rock your socks off with an onslaught of video game covers and original music.
JAMSPACE
Do you play an instrument? Wanna meet fellow musicians and jam out with them? Wanna just chill out and listen to some free jam sessions? You belong in the JamSpace, an open performance space where anyone can walk in and rock out - Exclusive to MAGFest.
GAMES
A gigantic Game Room, open 24 hours all weekend and filled to the brim with nearly every single console or game you’d ever want to play.
COMMUNITY
The best reason of all! You’ll find yourself surrounded by a whole mess of awesome internet-famous people from OCRemix, VGMix, PBC Productions, X-Strike Studios and more! Want to hang out with Virt, the guy who wrote the music for Contra 4? You can here!
So I’ll be here palling around with my internet chums, pointing a camera at people’s faces and generally rocking out all weekend. If you’re in the area (or even if you’re not) it would certainly be in your best interest to stop by. This is an event you do not want to miss.
Also, be sure to check out the videos above (the one at the top created by yours truly) for a little taste of what’s in store.
Visit www.MAGFEST.org for more info.
See you there!
